Bottom line: Advances in battery technology combined with more efficient hardware and smarter software have allowed smartphones to reach impressive runtime milestones. To borrow a phrase from the automotive world, however, "there's no replacement for displacement" – meaning capacity is still king.

The problem, of course, is that few want to lug around a handset with a giant battery just to get more uptime between charges… or at least, that's what most manufacturers believe. For those who prioritize battery life above all else, there's now an option for your consideration.

The Oukitel WP100 Titan is a rugged smartphone with a colossal 33,000 mAh battery that additionally packs a wealth of unusual yet practical features. It starts with a 6.8-inch display (2,460 x 1,080 pixels, 120 Hz refresh rate) driven by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC alongside an Arm Mali-G615 GPU, and mated to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage.

The main rear camera is a 200-megapixel unit (Samsung S5KHP3 sensor) that's joined by a 20-megapixel night vision camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera; a 32-megapixel forward-facing cam handles selfie duties and video calls.

The unit's massive 33,000 mAh battery affords up to 183 hours of talk time, 110 hours of music listening, 42 hours of video-watching, or up to 33 hours of gaming according to the specs on Oukitel's website.

Notably, some of the battery life claims listed on the Kickstarter campaign page are more favorable, and we're not sure which are accurate. For example, in standby mode, you can get about five-and-a-half months according to the website but over six months based on the Kickstarter.

The Titan also supports 66W fast charging and 18W reverse charging, allowing it to double as a portable power bank. Other amenities include a built-in, 100-lumen projector, an integrated 1,200-lumen camping light, IP68 / IP69K ratings, and a one-year warranty. It ships running Android 14 but is upgradeable to Android 15, we're told.

The phone measures 178.3 mm x 84.18 mm x 34 mm, or 7.02 in x 3.31 in x 1.33 in, and weighs 873 grams (1.92 pounds).

Oukitel has already smashed its initial funding goal thanks to nearly $230,000 in pledges from 364 backers. Interested parties can support the project and get their name on the list for a WP100 Titan for around $600, or roughly the same price as Apple's new iPhone 16e. The first units are expected to ship in April.

Sounds like it would be great for folks living/working out where power is sporadic or non-existent (go into a local city, charge up, then head back out into the bush for a month).

Can still work in a remote setting while having access to media/telecom etc.

Very niche, but I'm sure its an absolute wet dream for a select few.

"A brick in every sense of the word" I can count 2 senses of the word brick that can be associated with this phone. Heavy like a brick, shaped (somewhat) like a brick. It is not a literal brick. It is not a figurative brick since its a functional device. It probably does not smell like a brick. It probably doesn't taste like brick. Does Techspot not have an editor that peer reviews writers and tells them when something they wrote that they thought was cute was actually stupid?

If you have been reading the site for a while you know the answer to your question is, No."

Build one of these with half the battery, a 1920x1080 screen, 8GB of RAM 256GB storage and a better price and I'll snag one!

Hey Zed, I bought the Ulefone Power Armor 14 Pro (https://www.ulefone.com/products/power-armor-14-pro) for my partner who was always dropping, breaking, submersing his phone or running out of juice due to his addiction to youtube (and travel videos).
At first I was cautious about the weight and lower than today's standard camera resolution (20MP), but after a small period of adjustment for weight, and surprise at the awesome photo quality, he's LOVING IT!
It's waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, has a 10,000 mah battery (which with his heavy use lasts him about 5 days with the brightness turned down to 40%), wireless charging, FM Radio, NFC, 6.52 inch very clear screen & SD card slot (which he's got a 1TB Samsung card in no problemo). He's dropped it numerous times (usually getting out of the car onto the driveway, kicked it, dropped in the sink and once accidentally slopped a whole plate of very hot bolognaise onto it, all without a single problem!
Best part, at the time it only cost me $480 AU brand new which was 15 months ago... (F.U. Samung and Apple)
Im now looking at the 5G ugraded version for myself... I highly recommend you take a look at the "lesser known options" (I personally found "Rugged Phones Australia" a great place to look)

Antias' recommendation is good too however that phone is 3 years old compared to the other which is less than a year old.

I recommend searching for phones like that on aliexpress or use the link to aliexpress on gsmarena (although they're affiliate links so your browser/adblocker might go crazy)

Ulefone has an official aliexpress store (check the seller) and you save hundreds buying that way.
