Rumor mill: The iPhone SE 4 was long rumored to debut in early 2025, but until now, there was no clear launch timeframe. A new report changes that, claiming that Apple will unveil its next-generation "affordable" iPhone as early as next week, with availability expected later this month.

According to Bloomberg, the iPhone SE 4 could have a low-key debut, with Apple likely to announce it via a press release rather than a full-scale launch event. While Apple's high-profile events at Apple Park in Cupertino are typically reserved for flagship iPhones, the third-generation iPhone SE was introduced at the company's Peak Performance event in March 2022.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature premium hardware with support for Apple Intelligence. Rumors suggest it could be powered by the A18 chip from the iPhone 16 lineup and include at least 8GB of RAM. Additionally, the device may debut Apple's first-generation in-house cellular modem, replacing the Qualcomm modems currently used in iPhones.

The fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to undergo a major redesign as part of Apple's efforts to modernize its budget-friendly lineup. It is rumored to adopt the iPhone 14's form factor, featuring a bezel-less design with a large notch instead of the Dynamic Island. This redesign would also bring a 6.1-inch OLED display, replacing the 4.7-inch LCD panel found on the 2022 model.

Another significant change is the switch to a USB-C charging port, replacing the Lightning connector from the iPhone SE 3. The SE 4 could to be the first iPhone SE to feature gesture-based navigation and Face ID, marking the end of the Home Button and Touch ID. Camera upgrades may include a single 48MP rear sensor and a 12MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

If these rumors prove accurate, the next-gen iPhone SE could strengthen Apple's position in the mid-range market, particularly in developing regions where flagship iPhones remain prohibitively expensive. However, reports suggest the SE 4 may carry a higher price tag than its predecessor, which could hinder Apple's efforts to compete against mid-range leaders like Samsung, OnePlus, and Xiaomi.

Apple AI AI standing for Apple Incompetence

Think Samsung users generally like their their AI features , apparently not so much with Apple Users

least with Google dumbing down a lot of their assistants will have no choice but to give us better for free, As other resources flood the market

Genuinely interested give companies like Apple penchant for buying up new tech, have they actually become quite staid? more of same just slightly improved . New VR tech a flop , Apple AI a flop
Never had an iPhone or want one, but even usability is just mainly working with other apple products,
Apparently give a newbie a Apple phone or Android phone and Apple is NOT that intuitive - just from vague readings here or there supported by my bias/prejudice against apple

Suppose to be "around" 500 dollars. Pretty said when "budget" phone is 500 bucks, but
with the iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy 25 Ultra over $1,000 bucks, not to mention the price
of the folding phones, I guess 500 bucks would be a "budget" phone.

Many of us that buy iPhones do so for privacy foremost.

Apple have proven time and again that they won't sell out their users.
They're the last behemoth standing up for user privacy.

Google/Microsoft sold out long ago, as Snowden revealed.

I just wish Apple would make a small and light iPhone for one hand use, like the iPhone 5/5s.

iPhone-s are only expensive, if you buy them more often than you should. If you buy them at reasonable intervals (not more than once every 3+ years), then for a device that one uses constantly it is not that expensive.

My iPhone upgrade history is like this: iPhone6S -> iPhone 11 Pro -> iPhone 16 ProMax, I.e. with 5-year intervals, so I wouldn't complain about the phone prices, while life all around is many times more expensive, like transport and accommodation.

Finally, a USB-C port! In 2025!

Apple’s definition of “affordable” is like calling a $12 avocado toast a budget-friendly breakfast. Can’t wait for them to slap a $599 price tag on this and say it’s for the masses.

I will grant them that, they are also not perfect - thing they have been shown to scan all photos and stuff. They make huge money marketing to you. I believe they do build up a profile to package to 3rd party advertisers, but is probably one step more removed than say google, so less specifically identifying.
Meta probably has a file on me or one they can construct easily- even though I never had a FB account. Google also can infer a lot of stuff not directly, so I sure Apple does it
Apples privacy claims , probably have a lot of weasley words. They nearly all provide with court orders etc .
TBF targeted adverts make sense white, straight, high income, democrat, interests boating, PC tech , gardening etc people just don't like 1 step removed -like they are being 100% monitored, which they all try to do. Apple hides it better

If one wishes to stand up to privacy invasion, then even Apple is a poor choice - as they want to control every part of your life, health, car, home, insurance, credit/spensing. and shun all the major social media platforms . ie better to diversify - but Apple knows me , knows what all my music , movie, app, game ,tastes, hobbies are

Plus if someone important , Apple phones are highly targeted- n/a to most of us eg zero day for google phone may cost more quite often than Apple phones

At least Apple doesn’t sell their users’s data to anyone who’s willing to throw them some money like Google does.

I would not mind trying this product. Of course I would need a government subsidy. I'm applying to USAID

citation needed Google does this That they take my email address , my name , my phone number and info they have about me and sell it to ANYONE or just someone.

This would violate a lot of countries laws

Noh Google does exactly WHAT Apple does sells a demographic to 3rd party advertisers

GOOGLE SERVES those adverts, just like Apple serves packaged demographics from 3rd party advertisers

To make such a libellous claim needs good proof

Now there is a market in the USA to sell peoples info , but that is not google and some of those companies may not just sell to licensed private investigators but maybe anyone IDK - not american

Facebook got caught out years ago doing something silly, but think cleanup its act

No one wants Billion euro fines from EU - are believe sure as fat puppies are cute they will and relentlessly

So much naivety over Apple - if it's free you are the product .

Tell me how you are not the Apple product ???
I really want to know
Not only do they want to control you , limit you - make you buy stuff twice for imac vs ipad pro even if practically same spec
They want to clip every ticket you of your spending

That is Apple makes 10s of billions from advertising . iPhone users will pay MORE
This includes Google paying Apple a lot of money each year !!!

Tell me how Apple sets you free from Google again

Your data and privacy is your measures.
Maybe one part is using Apple - Apple will package people like you up.
Most people leak location , browser, social media , wifi connections etc

What we need to know is what companies collect and use. Ie if you use ipay or whatever it's called does Apple use your spending

as an aside can't remember articles about Visa selling info that's very personal - again would be a privacy breach I imagine.

So really needs more granular info eg ok public facing info vs internal , bank/credit , emails etc
Thing is they can get a pretty good idea of you - from a lot of "public" info likely your age , your sex, your income , your place of work , the town you live in etc

Google has got better warning what permissions apps want and prompting you to remove such permissions if no longer use app

So yes Google may make it easier for 3rd party data miners from games you install etc .
Again we are in charge , pacman doesn't need my location , contact list , access to camera etc

What are you talking about? They just recently settled a lawsuit about Siri's privacy.

Agree, that's a pretty bad look for Apple - but no where near as bad as Google, who've been collecting data even after setting privacy settings.

I would also respond to @kiwigraeme : Apple isn't a data collection company.
They've always made money, and still continue to make money not from data collection, but from hardware. Even their software is now largely free, including macOS, OSX, iOS, etc.

Google make all their money from data collection, adverts, and selling data to God-knows-who, including the military and intelligence (as we know from Snowden).

But I agree, Apple isn't perfect, but at least they're willing to fight for their users' right to privacy in court.

I don't use macOS, but I value my privacy and try to use tools to protect me.

Yeah, maybe those "two great men" Ramaswamy and Musk, will put their two "two great minds together", and unfreeze USAID funds because, I mean after all......what better cause than you?

I'll bet Apple could bang the price up to about $600.00 before the Sheeple would even blink

Status, pride of ownership, and just being able assure yourself you've really made it, is.. well, "priceless". You can't really put a price tag on the ephemeral, now can you?
